Heritage of Elliott Hotel and Elliott Stables
Elliott St Apartments Hotel is located in the heart of Auckland CBD in the beautifully restored T & G building, offering a window into an era now gone by. Early records show that the building was first built in the 1880's and was used as a warehouse for the Archibald Clark & Sons Ltd clothing business. The front sections of the building were tenanted by local businesses including a health food depot, millinery, electrical shop, and tea rooms.
I
n the late 1920's the Temperance & General Mutual Life Assurance Society acquired the building and submitted plans for the development of the tower. With the tower in place the T & G building was a prominent feature of the Auckland skyline and is thought to have been the highest structure in 1930 when it was completed. From the 1930's unto the present day, very little has changed to the appearance of the external structure and styling.
In 2001 the current owners acquired the building and transformed the interior of the building into a range of stylish apartments and the epicurean village of the Stables. The renovations have combined old world charm with new facilities, to create a stylish, independent and eclectic place for all.

Good evening
I am wondering if you would be interested in running a story in Verve Shoreside Magazine about Stables on Elliott?
More details about this publication can be located on our website – www.newsletterfactory.co.nz, but basically it is a free glossy magazine – with a 12 000 print run – produced bi monthly and distributed to hi income homes on the North Shores.
We have not yet managed to include a story on the Stables on Elliott but would love to.
If you could send me up to 350 words about Stables, it's wonderful atmosphere and eclectic mix of foods to choose from, the history behind the venue, etc. etc., along with a few visuals we would be happy to run these in the July August issue.
This would be great exposure for yourselves and I am sure of great interest to our readers...many of whom do not know about your existence.
I look forward to hearing back from you and am happy to answer your questions – send you copies of previous issues, etc.
Many thanks and regards
Fran
